Welcome to the Dutch Association of Skin Therapists

Skin therapists treat patients who suffer from diseased or damaged skin and who have been referred to a skin therapist by a general practitioner or specialist. The goal of the treatment is to cure, reduce or prevent a complaint or limitation as result of a skin disorder. Scars, burns, acne, excessive hair growth and oedema are all examples of problems a skin therapist can help you with.

Skin therapists can work in a private practice, a group practice, a health centre or a hospital.

The Dutch Association of Skin Therapists is a paramedic association that has represented the interests of skin therapists in the Netherlands since 1978.

Members of the association are bachelor level skin therapy graduates. The title of skin therapist is protected under Dutch law. The educational and expertise requirements are also specified under Dutch law. The expertise entails treating patients with a broad variety of skin disorders who are referred to the skin therapist by a general practitioner or specialist.

Skin therapists can be registered in the Dutch Paramedics' Register.
